Our story

My Audio Monument was founded from the intrinsic need to capture and share people's personal stories.

Our creators are relatives. The very first Audio Monument was created by Lars Sørensen about Joost. When it became clear that Joost might not be around much longer, Lars decided to capture his story in words and music. The result is a resonant memorial in which Joost and Lars were able to share his life story in peace.


We create to help people remember. We believe that capturing the stories of those who are no longer with us can help those left behind.

How we work

We are here to help you from A to Z. These are the most frequently asked questions;

  • Who is MAM for?

    Anyone who wants to record their personal life story is welcome. We often use My Audio Monument for people who know they will die in the foreseeable future. But everyone is welcome to record a story.

  • How long does a recording last?

    We reserve a 180-minute slot for on-location time. Within this time, we'll shoot the footage, which will take between 45 and 60 minutes after editing.

  • How much does an Audio Monument cost?

    We can provide an audio device for as little as €475. This includes VAT but excludes travel expenses. We charge €0.23 per km for this, plus any necessary parking fees. Additional charges apply for the Wadden Islands.

  • Where can I hear My Audio Monument?

    We'll deliver your Audio Monument as an MP3 recording. You can choose where to save or publish this recording. We also offer the option of posting the recording for you in our online environment, which is accessible to people you choose and provide the password for.
